Willow Gardens Yoga, with locations in Buda and Lockhart, Texas, offers a comprehensive, hands-on Pilates Mat Training Certification designed to help you build a strong foundation in anatomy, alignment, movement, and cueing. Whether you want to start teaching professionally or deepen your understanding of Pilates, this training provides the skills, confidence, and support you need to succeed.
Our program is taught over two immersive weekends in our studio in Lockhart, Texas, making it accessible for busy students while still offering a deep, high-quality learning experience. All hours completed can be applied toward continuing education (CE) requirements for yoga teachers, fitness instructors, and movement professionals.

TRAINING STRUCTURE:
CHOOSE ONE WEEKEND OR COMPLETE BOTH
Our Pilates Teacher Training is designed with flexibility in mind. You can attend the full two-weekend program for the complete certification experience, or choose to join weekend one or weekend two individually if you’re looking to deepen specific skill areas. Completing both weekends provides the most comprehensive training experience.
WEEKEND ONE:
FOUNDATION OF PILATES
Perfect for beginners, movement enthusiasts, and instructors wanting to build a strong base.
During weekend one, you’ll learn:
Pilates Principles: breath, control, precision, concentration, flow, and core engagement
Anatomy & Alignment: functional movement, posture mechanics, and joint safety
Classical vs. Progressive Pilates: understanding lineage, methodology, and modern adaptations
Level 1 Exercises: technique, purpose, and proper form
Modifications: how to adapt exercises for beginners, seniors, and limited mobility
WEEKEND TWO:
TEACHING SKILLS & ADVANCED MOVEMENT
Ideal for those who already have foundational knowledge or want to elevate their Pilates teaching.
During weekend two, you’ll learn:
Sequencing Essentials: structuring a balanced, effective class
Levels 2–3 Exercises: advancing your technique and progression strategies
Contraindications: how to safely work with injuries, pregnancy, and special populations
Variations & Creative Props: adding challenge, support, and variety to your classes
Advanced Cueing: refining your voice, pacing, and teaching presence
Weekend two prepares you to teach multi-level classes and tailor them to diverse bodies confidently.

Both weekends will take place in our studio in Lockhart, Texas. The schedule will be the same for both weekends.
Friday, 3:00 - 8:00 PM
Saturday, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Sunday, 9:00 - 4:00 PM

MEET YOUR INSTRUCTORS
Kerrie Kelsey
Kerrie is our Director of Yoga Teacher training and is an E-500 yoga teacher with additional training in Rocket Yoga, Ashtanga, Yin, Mat Pilates, Barre, Inside Flow, and Hot 26+2. With over 1500 hours of in-studio teaching experience, she is one of the Austin area's most diverse & experienced trainers. She earned her Pilates and Barre certifications from the Pilates Sports Center in Encino, CA. She is the director of our WGY Teacher Training Program and is very excited to welcome you to our program!
Dr. Raelynn Deaton Haynes
Raelynn is the owner of Willow Gardens and an experienced E-RYT 500 yoga teacher and certified Barre and Pilates instructor; she is also a dedicated academic and professor of anatomy at Texas State University. Rae leads the WGY Teacher Training School and has extensive training in various yoga styles, including Vinyasa, Ashtanga, Hot 26+2, Rocket Yoga, and Forrest Yoga. She earned her Pilates and Barre certifications from the Pilates Sports Center in Encino, CA.
PILATES TEACHER TRAINING FAQ
Do I need prior experience to join the Pilates training?
No. Weekend One is perfect for beginners, anyone new to Pilates, or anyone wanting a refresh on the basics.
Can I attend just one weekend of the training?
Yes! You can choose Weekend One, Weekend Two, or complete both weekends. Each weekend covers a different set of skills, and students often choose based on their experience level and goals.
What does Weekend One cover?
Weekend One focuses on Pilates principles, anatomy, alignment, Classical vs. Progressive Pilates, Level 1 exercises, and modifications. This weekend builds the essential foundation for safe, effective movement and teaching.
What does Weekend Two cover?
Weekend Two dives into sequencing, Levels 2–3 exercises, contraindications (injury, pregnancy), variations, advanced cueing, and creative prop use. This weekend is designed for students wanting to expand and refine their teaching skills.
Do I need to take Weekend One before Weekend Two?
No but weekend one is recommended if you are new to Pilates or would like a stronger foundation. If you already have experience with Pilates basics or a movement background (yoga, fitness, PT, etc.), you are welcome to start with weekend two.
Will I be certified after this training?
Students who complete both weekends will receive a Pilates Mat Teacher Training Certificate from Willow Gardens Yoga. This qualifies you to teach mat-based Pilates classes in studios, gyms, and private settings.
Can the training hours be used for continuing education (CE) credits?
Yes. All hours completed in this training count toward continuing education requirements for yoga teachers, fitness instructors, and wellness professionals.
Is the training in person?
Yes. All sessions are fully in-person at Willow Gardens Yoga in our Lockhart, Texas studio. This allows for hands-on support, real-time feedback, and guided practice teaching.
Is there practice teaching included?
Absolutely. You’ll practice teaching throughout both weekends to build confidence, cue clearly, and refine your technique.
What materials are included?
A comprehensive PDF training manual is included. You’ll receive exercise breakdowns, sequencing examples, anatomy fundamentals, and teaching tools.
What is the cancellation policy?
A $200 non-refundable deposit is required. Cancellations two weeks or more before weekend one receive a WGY account credit (minus deposit). After weekend one, students receive a 50% credit of the remaining tuition. No credits once Weekend Two begins.
